LondonEnergy Ltd supports Waltham Forest Compost Giveaway

The high quality compost, which is produced from residents’ food and green waste at the Edmonton EcoPark, was available for residents to collect free of charge from four sites across the Borough. The 60 tonnes of compost made available over the weekend is part of over 200 tonnes that has been allocated for free giveaways to local residents over the course of 2017.

Commenting on the giveaway, LondonEnergy's Managing Director, Peter Sharpe said: “The Compost Giveaway is a great way to give something back to local residents. It’s also a great example of really effective, local and closed loop recycling with a high quality product being produced and made available to the same people who produced the waste in the first place.  We would urge any green fingered residents to come down with a shovel and a bag and help themselves!”    The compost was available from the following locations:

• Langthorne Park car park, Birch Grove, Leytonstone E11 4YG
• John Beanse Waste & Recycling Education Centre car park, Pimp Hall Nature Reserve, 48 Kings Road, Chingford E4 7HR
• Stocksfield Road, Walthamstow, E17 3LJ

The Compost Centre at LondonEnergy's Edmonton Ecopark can process up to 45,000 tonnes of organic waste a year and operates to the standards set by the British Standards Institution’s PAS 100 standard (BSI).  This is the industry standard that ensures high-quality compost that is consistent, safe and reliable to use.

In addition to the Compost Giveaway residents are also able to collect free compost throughout the year from Alara Compost Hub 110- 112 Camley Street NC1 4PF.
