As the proud holder of the FORS Gold award for over 10 years, LondonEnergy is pleased to announce that this prestigious accreditation has been maintained again. LondonEnergy has always been committed to delivering safety leadership and best practice, both of which are anchored in the company’s core values and behaviours.
What is FORS? The Fleet Operator Recognition System is a voluntary accreditation scheme for fleet operators that aims to raise the level of quality within fleet operations and demonstrate which companies are achieving exemplary levels of best practice in safety, efficiency, and environmental protection. FORS currently has over 5000 members and over 108,000 vehicles accredited. The scheme covers all vehicles that operate on the public highway, such as heavy goods vehicles, vans, passenger-carrying vehicles, and cars.
Maintaining a FORS accreditation is no easy feat. LondonEnergy works hard year on year to ensure they are making continuous progression in reducing emissions, improving vehicle MPG, reducing PCN’s and vehicle incidents, and improving safety. They use the toolkits and e-learning provided by FORS for both their managers and drivers, ensuring continual professional development for the whole team.
There has been further investment in the transport fleet as they welcomed their new electric vehicles, which will see the team say goodbye to their diesel vans, further supporting their aim of reducing vehicle emissions and helping to improve air quality around London. The whole HGV fleet were also fitted with safety panels across the vehicle side run bars to add even more protection for vulnerable road users, which is just another example of LondonEnergy’s commitment to safety on the road.
LondonEnergy has also just seen their first driver apprentice pass her HGV test and join the hooklift driving team. The apprenticeship scheme is now growing, with two new apprentices starting for 2022.
Sustainability doesn’t just stop with the transport department. LondonEnergy works with all employees, contractors, and visitors to help encourage cleaner ways to travel to and from work. They are promoting a cycle to work scheme, providing electric vehicle charging points, providing electric pool cars for traveling away from the site, and working on their FORS travel plan to help set targets for improvements on all LondonEnergy sites. They also provide all staff and visitors information on alternative ways to travel to the site, encouraging public transport use.
Our FORS membership shows how committed we are as a company to improving safety on London’s roads and how we are playing our part in improving air quality and reducing vehicle emissions. We want to be the leaders in our industry and will work hard to stay at the top. Our transport team all know what we need to do to stay FORS gold accredited, and together, we push hard every year to ensure we make improvements and meet the required standard.
