Khaleel – MMD Apprentice

What do you think the benefits of apprenticeships are?

I am working towards a degree apprenticeship to gain practical skills combined with theory.

What is a typical day?

I’m assigned to work with one of the more experienced mechanical engineers to carry out tasks in the MMD workshop or energy plant. No two days are the same, which makes my role interesting.

Are there any challenges that you have had to overcome?

Before my apprenticeship, I attended college and had no practical work experience. Enrolling in the apprenticeship programme has opened my eyes to the varied work that takes place working in an energy plant. It’s been excellent for my development.

How is LondonEnergy/team supporting you in your apprenticeship?

I attend university part-time, and my managers and team have been fantastic in supporting and mentoring me with my coursework.

What advice would you give to anyone that is considering doing an apprenticeship?

To ask lots of questions, learn as much as you can and get involved in projects.
